Young Carers Program

The program facilitates a variety of weekly activities, drop-in nights and special events that provide recreational, social, educational and skill development opportunities for young carers. Young people are given the opportunity to meet new friends and gain practical and social skills. Through programs, young carers build resilience and self-esteem, and most importantly are given time for “kids to be kids.” Programs include sports, group activities, expressive arts, video games, fieldtrips, homework assistance and more. Programs are facilitated in different areas of Toronto, and hosted through other agencies and organizations.

Through this model, the family, the child and the community benefit from opportunities provided for young caregivers to be seen, heard, understood and validated in the experience of providing care.

Programs are of no cost to eligible families.
