Navy League Cadets are boys and girls between the ages of 9 to 13.
Navy League Cadets come from many different backgrounds, but they all share a common interest.
Making Friends and Having Fun!
Is this a military program?
No. The Navy League of Canada is a civilian organization. Our cadet program uses a Naval theme as a platform to develop patriotism, good citizenship, a sense of duty, self-discipline and respect for others.
In order to be a volunteer with the Navy League Cadet Program you have to be:
18 or older;
In good health; and,
A member of good standing in your community.
Do you have to buy a Uniform?
No. Cadet and Officer uniforms are provided by The Navy League of Canada. As a volunteer will be required to maintain your uniform and return it when you leave.
How are volunteer leaders selected?
The Navy League of Canada has a Screening Program for Prospective
Volunteers.
Volunteer Screening serves two main purposes:
To create and maintain a safe environment for our Cadets and
Volunteers
To ensure an appropriate match between each volunteer and their duties
Are there training programs for
Volunteers?
Yes. All Navy League Cadet
Volunteers are provided
opportunities for Professional Development, including Home Study and Weekend Training. With subjects such as Leadership and Instructional Technique, the skills you learn will undoubtedly benefit you in your career as well.
What other benefits are there?
We value the service of our volunteers. In addition to joy and fullillment you gain from volunteering, The Navy League of Canada has a comprehensive Awards and Recognition Program. This includes awards at the Local, Regional and National Levels.
