film festival? If you answer yes to any of these questions, then you should consider joining the Toronto Youth Shorts Film Festival team!
The Toronto Youth Shorts Film Festival is a showcase of films and videos from young local artists in the city. Going into our 4th year, we're seeking enthusiastic people to join our team.
We meet every two weeks to plan the
film festival. If you have skills in the areas of
marketing, design, multimedia, special event planning, arts administration and volunteer coordination with an interest in applying these skills to a small but growing
film festival celebrated by the community, this is a great opportunity for you.
Below is an outline of what each area covers in terms of festival planning:
OUTREACH - Great for someone with an academic background or experience in arts administration, communications or film studies, the person working outreach will initiate contact with the local film and video community, soliciting festival participation via communication with university and college faculty and other community groups.
PROGRAMMING - Work alongside the Festival Director in forming the program and content for the festival screenings. Assist with the implementation of the T24 Project film challenge and youth (under 18) screenings. Great for someone with a film studies, arts administration and education background.
MULTIMEDIA AND TECH - Experience in Photography, videography and working with audio visual equipment in a public event capacity wilas well as a working knowledge of and access to a non-linear video editing suite such as Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Avid or Sony Vegas is necessary.
MARKETING - Work alongside the Festival Director in implementing the festival creative for the year, including but not limited to designing all
marketing materials to be distributed in print and online. Will also assist in promoting all events to generate audience participation and establishing community partnerships. Will also work with the team in organizing the festival launch event.
COMMUNICATIONS - Be the primary contact for media and will assist the Festival Director in soliciting media participation at the festival. Other activities include photo-documenting the festival events, creating press releases and update social media portals such as Facebook and Twitter. Education and work experience in public relations and journalism an asset.
SPECIAL EVENTS - Manage all the planning and on-site operations of the festival awards ceremony gala and act as the primary contact for any hospitality/food and beverage related tasks during the festival. We are looking for a creative strong team player with a willingness to work in all aspects of hospitality as required. Previous experience in special event planning an asset.
