Participants from family and corporate teams unite at this fun-filled event in support of diabetes research. Fantastic entertainment, great music, sponsor booths, giveaways and a delicious lunch you don’t want to miss.
This annual event raises both awareness of the disease and funds for research into cures and treatments for type 1 diabetes. This year’s fundraising goal is to surpass the 2010
TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes, which raised $7.6 million.
For the 17th year, teams of families, friends and co-workers will walk to show their spirit and support for finding a cure by dressing in team colours and costumes. More than 48,000 Canadians will participate in the
TELUS Walk to Cure Diabetes at over 70 locations across the country.
Type 1 diabetes, the most severe form of diabetes, is a non-preventable autoimmune disease affecting more than 300,000 Canadians. This number is increasing by three to five per cent each year. Type 1 diabetes strikes children and adults suddenly, leaving them dependent on injected or pumped insulin for life.
