Special Olympics Canada is a non-profit organization providing sport, training, competition and community programs for people with an
intellectual disability.
It is part of a worldwide organization, and holds
National Games every two years, alternating between Summer and Winter games, with the World Games being held in the year following
National Games.
Funding for
Special Olympics programs comes from corporations, fundraising, government and individuals.
Seventy-five percent of the funds remain in the province in which they were raised.
