ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT HAVING A POSITIVE IMPACT IN THE LIVES OF TODAYS YOUTH!!
As our numbers grow, so does our need for
volunteers! Now more than ever, we need tutors and mentors to come on board for an exciting year with our
youth.
Volunteers with Pathways to Education get a chance to truly make a difference in the lives of
youth who need support to succeed. Just two hours one evening a week during the school year gives you the chance to:
• Positively impact a student’s academic career. Pathways to Education has been proven to make positive changes to the way that our students approach school. In Scarborough, we have reduced absenteeism by 36%, and have reduced the number of academically at-risk students (i.e. grade 9 students earning fewer than six credits) by 41%.
• Teach valuable skills in a fun, relaxed setting. Our mentoring program is designed to teach leadership, self-advocacy, financial literacy and employability skills in ways that
youth can relate to
• Share your experiences in post-secondary education and employment with
youth and serve as a role model for students who can benefit from the attention and experience of caring adults
• Gain experience in teaching and working with
youth. 100% of your time will be spent learning tips and techniques and working hands-on with our
youth. This can be a great way for teacher candidates and those applying to teaching programs to build their resumes
In addition, your work will be valued and recognized – we provide letters of reference and host fun social events for
volunteers throughout the year!
If you are interested in
volunteering, please get in touch with me! If you know someone who would be interested in
volunteering, please pass this on! We have orientation and training dates coming up in September, and spaces are still available.
