Lake Ontario Waterkeeper

Imagine a place where every river, every lake, and every coastline is clean enough to swim, pure enough to quench your thirst, and safe enough, wild enough to toss in a line and pull out a fish for your family.

Clean water depends on an empowered public. Too often, citizens are shut out of decision-making, cannot access important information, or cannot appeal to impartial judges. Lake Ontario Waterkeeper triggers or creates new forums for public participation. We train citizens to contribute. We collect, publish, and disseminate the vital information they need. At all times, we fight for just decisions.

Our goals are:
1. Restore the community's ability to swim, drink and fish in Lake Ontario;
2. Educate people about environmental law and the legal tools available to them; and
3. Build a community of citizens, activists and experts.
