Ability Online

Ability Online is a secure, monitored online community that is all-inclusive (children and teens with any kind of disability or chronic illness, their families, and the people who work with them make up our member base), welcoming and full of opportunities for friendship, support and empowerment. A place that is available 24/7 from any computer with Internet access.

Via monitored message forums, chat facilities and skill focused programs we provide our youth members with opportunities for:
o Social skill development
o Cognitive retraining
o Increased independence, confidence and self-esteem
o Empowerment, mastery and control
o Computer literacy development
o Creative expression
o Self-exploration and self actualization
o Peer mentorship
o Mutual respect and support
o Fun!
We also provide disability and chronic illness discussion forums for empowerment through the sharing of information. But we go beyond the disability or illness with our holistic approach. We look at the overall needs of these families and encourage/facilitate online discussions (message exchanges) to also include sports and recreation, transitional issues, activities for independence (e.g. cooking, self-advocacy) camp experiences and more. Our role models and mentors are also online to educate members about their areas of interest/expertise as well as to inspire participation.
