Whetstone Productions
presents the world premiere of
WingédA radical, fearless interpretation of three mythical beings: Icarus, Lucifer and Phoenix.
Poetic, surprising and irreverent,
Wingéd is a series of dramatic monologues about three mythical beings written and performed by
David Tomlinson, and directed by Whetstone Productions’ Artistic Director, Diana Kolpak.
It is performed amidst a special exhibit of paintings, photographs and sculpture curated by Jessica Cimó that is thematically linked to the performance.
As the layers of myth that envelope these stories are peeled away,
Wingéd inspects and dissects relationships between fathers and sons, friends and lovers, predators and prey... and serves up a clarion call for the transformation of humankind.
Icarus is a wounded dreamer who ruminates on sons who dare fly past their fathers. Literate and sarcastic, yet compassionate, Lucifer challenges our ideas of evil and accountability. By answering a call in his right hip, Phoenix discovers that we can all be our own higher power.
Wingéd uses a highly physical performance style blended with original artwork and live projection to create an emotionally bold multimedia experience.
Wingéd runs April 29-May 8 at
The DeLeon White Gallery.
