Time Out for Mental Health: Student-Athlete Perspectives
Where: Online, register here
When: October 31, 11:15 to 12:15 EST
Many post-secondary students will face a mental health challenge. This can interrupt their studies, affect academic performance and impact their day-to-day lives. Post-secondary athletes can face similar challenges with added pressures of being both a student and an athlete. Often they struggle to get help because of the stigma surrounding mental health and illness in sports. The expectation to be mentally tough keeps many student-athletes silent and isolated.
The Student-Athlete Mental Health Initiative (SAMHI) is pleased to invite you to our inaugural webinar in partnership with Ball State University‘s Immersive Learning Social Work class as we discuss mental health, stigma and the experiences of current and former student-athletes in Canada and the United States.
