The Toronto Zoo and our Indo-Malaya Wildlife Care staff are hosting a new fundraising event supporting the conservation of the three critically endangered flagship species of Sumatra: Sumatran Rhino, Tiger, and Orangutan. This unique evening will include an Indonesian-style dinner and will showcase our Indo-Malayan animals, Wildlife Care staff, Curator of Amphibians and Reptiles, with an appearance from our Zoo Horticulture Specialist to discuss the flora within the pavilion as well as a PhD student whose thesis involves our resident Sumatran Orangutans! This exciting new fundraising event will offer our guests the rare experience of exclusive keeper talks, tiger feeding and unique silent auction items. There will also be three special live auctions held, and the winning bids will receive one of three behind the scene opportunities at Greater one-horned rhinos, Sumatran Tiger and Sumatran Orangutans with all three once-in-a-lifetime experiences taking place night of the event! Proceeds raised from the ‘Saving Sumatra’ event will be donated to the International Rhino Foundation (www.rhinos.org) to support Sumatran Rhinos, the Tiger Conservation Campaign (www.support.mnzoo.org) to support Sumatran Tigers, and Orangutan Outreach (www.redape.org) to support Sumatran Orangutans. Guests attending Saving Sumatra will learn about the plight these amazing species are facing, as well as what the Toronto Zoo is doing to help, and the important role we all play in helping to save and protect these critically endangered animals. *Cost (Per Adult): $85.00 per member AND $95.00 per non-member.
