Toronto – April 19, 2018 – The AFC is pleased to announce that Actra Fraternal Benefit Society (AFBS) has renewed its support for the work of The AFC with a $100,000 donation.

AFBS, the only national insurance and investment provider established and owned by Canadian performers and screenwriters, has been a supporter of The AFC for more than 20 years, including providing fully subsidized office space for the organization.

This generous donation will enable us to provide a lifeline to the hundreds of entertainment professionals who will turn to us this year after an unforeseen emergency threatens their livelihood.” AFBS has been supporting artists’ health and retirement needs since 1975, making insurance benefits accessible to 17,000+ Members and managing over $670 million of their retirement savings. The AFC is the lifeline for Canada’s entertainment industry. Through compassionate and confidential support, The AFC helps Canadian entertainment professionals maintain their health, dignity and ability to work. In the last 24 months, The AFC has distributed over $1 million in emergency financial aid to help entertainment professionals working in all aspects of film & TV, music, theatre and dance.
