More information available on our event website: https://ewbtorontofundraiser.weebly.com Meet our exciting speakers: Chizoba Imoka is a PhD candidate at OISE at the University of Toronto. Her research investigates how Nigerian secondary schools are preparing students to lead decolonial social change in Nigeria and beyond. At age 19, Chizoba founded Unveiling Africa, a non-profit that provides a platform for African youth to participate in civic and political advocacy. On the global stage, Chizoba was a member of World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Civic Participation where she helped shape discourse on youth and civic engagement in Africa. For her public leadership, Chizoba has received numerous awards, they include: The Selfless for Africa Award, Adrienne Clarkson Laureateship for Public Service and the Adel Sedra Distinguished Graduate Student Award amongst others. Dan Hoornweg has almost 20 years with the World Bank, including as Lead Advisor overseeing Sustainable Cities and Climate Change programs. Dan returned to Ontario in 2012. He is now Associate Professor and Richard Marceau Chair at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. Dan researches energy and material flows of cities and urban systems. Dan is also the Chief Safety and Risk Officer for the Province of Ontario (Technical Standards and Safety Authority, TSSA). Dan’s most recent books are ‘Cities and Sustainability: A New Approach’ (Routledge 2016) and editor of ‘Letters to a Young Engineer’ (Canadian engineering convocations 2014 - 2018). Levi Goertz is a boarder member and former COO of Viamo Inc. (formerly VOTO Mobile). He oversaw all project work and acted as the lead consultant for Viamo’s advisory services unit. Viamo provides software and services to enable large scale 2-way mobile phone communication anywhere in the world with a special focus on surveys, education projects and call in hotlines. Prior to Viamo, Levi was an Engagement Manager with McKinsey and Company where he served health care, telecom and banking clients in Canada, USA and South Africa. The event will be moderated by Chibulu Luo (Fundraising Lead, EWB Toronto).
