Curl for Kids Bonspiel

St. Catharines, ON (November 10) –Community Crew, a Niagara Region-based not-for-profit organization, recently announced it will be hosting their second annual Curl for Kids Bonspiel fundraiser. The event will raise funds for Community Crew’s programs that serve children in the Niagara Region who have been affected by poverty.

The Lunch Angels Program is responsible for handing out almost 500 lunches to students across three schools in St. Catharines, with plans to expand across the whole Niagara Region. Volunteers prepare the lunches on Tuesday and deliver them to students on Wednesday.

“Since our launch in 2013, we’ve handed more than 26,000 lunches,” said Sarah Pritula, Director for Community Crew. “The goal of the event is to raise funds to expand our program in the Region and to raise awareness about our organization. No child should ever go hungry, and we aim to further help children across Niagara.”

“Two years ago, my first meeting with the Lunch Angels was a simple conversation about lunches for kids. Since that time, the Community Crew has become a valuable member of our Prince of Wales family,” said Jen Currie, Principal of Prince of Wales Public School. “We obviously appreciate the support with lunches and school events, but it’s the genuine kindness of the Community Crew people that make a difference in the lives of our students.”

The Curl for Kids Bonspiel takes place Saturday November 10th, 2018 at St. Catharines Curling Centre. For more information about Community Crew and sponsorship opportunities, please visit www.communitycrew.ca/curlforkids.
