Working closely with the Director of Development and Marketing, the Communications Lead develops and executes day-to-day communications that inform, rally and connect the North York Harvest community in taking action against hunger in Northern Toronto. As a key member of the development team, you will gather and craft compelling stories and content about our organization: its people, programs and partner agencies for web, print, and social media, with a particular focus on donor-focused communications.

Roles and Responsibilities: In collaboration with the Director of Development and Marketing, develop and execute an integrated communication and branding strategy to support development and awareness based campaigns Develop, design and disseminate concise yet inspiring content including, but not limited to: direct response solicitations, donor stewardship and recognition materials, advocacy and awareness campaign materials, website copy, press releases/media pitches, and social content (social media posts, blogs) Develop and maintain a social media content calendar for organization’s social media channels to build and strengthen brand engagement online among key stakeholder communities In collaboration with our Community Engagement team, create and maintain a robust story bank featuring client, volunteer and partner stories that show the impact of our work Maintain organization’s website, online profiles and donation pages, ensuring accuracy and ease of use Strengthen and amplify the organization’s voice through assisting in the development of clear and consistent key messages and brand guidelines Support communication and marketing needs of Community Engagement, Volunteer Management and Operations departments by providing design, editing and distribution guidance and assistance as needed Skills and Qualifications: 2+ years of communications experience in non-profit or corporate setting Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing, Fundraising, Communications or related field or equivalent work experience 1+ years managing social media presence for an organization/business Clear, compelling and concise writing skills with the ability to easily adapt to different audiences and platforms. Experience sharing the stories of members of marginalized communities in ways that maintain dignity and celebrate strength preferred Experience crafting meaningful and timely donor engagement focused communications, including gift solicitations, thank you letters and impact reports Exceptional copy-editing skills, with a laser-like attention to detail Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills A strong collaborative approach, with a willingness to pitch in and help whenever the need arises Ability to work within tight deadlines Excellent project management skills Skilled in tracking, measuring and reporting on web/social media analytics Experience performing basic website maintenance in a WordPress environment Adept using the Adobe Creative Suite Experience using Raiser’s Edge and Online Express preferred Photography/videography skills are an asset
