The Dystonia community in the Greater Toronto Area organize the Chuck’s Run for Dystonia to raise awareness, funds for research, and support for dystonia, a neurological movement disorder, in honor of Chuck Saundercook, who was diagnosed in 1972 with generalized dystonia at the age of 11.

Details:
In 1978 Chuck became one of the first Canadians to receive deep brain stimulation. He improved with the procedure but developed pneumonia and in his weakened state, died at age 16. In his final chapter, Chuck donated his body and brain to help others in furthering dystonia research.
