Opportunity Details
Animal fostering volunteers provide long-term care to animals that cannot stay at shelters into their homes to help prepare them for adoption, and are provided with all supplies and veterinary care required until the animals can be brought back to the shelter. Animals include: kittens (orphaned or nursing with their mother) as well as adult cats and dogs who are sick or injured.

Time Commitment The average time is three to six weeks, but the time commitment varies according to the animal. During that time, the volunteer will be required to bring the animal to a shelter or to an external veterinarian for regular check-ups or vaccine boosters. Resources If fostering kittens, you will be provided with an instruction manual. City staff and specific external veterinarians are available to support you whenever necessary.
