THE CARDINAL FAMILY IS GATHERED to celebrate a birthday. Six members of the same family are going to exchange banalities while everyone lives a personal drama which only the public witness. In the course of the confidences and revelations, a family saga is woven with, in the background, the disappearance of Joseph Cardinal, the grandfather of the protagonists, who will take us from New York in the ’40s to a black day in Dallas in November 1963. In the family no one knows where or when he died, but the possible discovery of the fate of the grandfather will have a very different effect on the fate of each. Inspired in part by a stay in Afghanistan where he was filming a documentary for the National Film Board, Claude Guilmain questions in Americandream.caour fascination with the American dream.
